 334年前の今日、曽良は日記に「巳三月二十日、同出、深川出船。巳ノ下剋、千住ニ揚ル。」と書き、深川を出立しました。

一方、芭蕉は「おくのほそ道」に、「弥生も末の七日、明ぼのゝ空朧々とし」たなか旅立ったと書いています。この食い違いにつきましては従来から諸説ありますが、芭蕉が江戸を旅立ったのは、残されている書簡等から三月二十七日(1689年5月16日)で間違いないようです。ただ、芭蕉は「おくのほそ道」に「月は在明にて光おさまれる物から、不二の峰幽にみえて」と書いており、この描写を二十七日の朝の月と言うには違和感があります** 。

*曽良が誤って「七」を書き落としている。曽良が先発して何らかの指示を仰ぎに水戸まで行った。のちに「千住御殿(小菅御殿)」と呼ばれるようになる関東郡代伊奈半十郎家の広大な下屋敷で協議していた。芭蕉も同行していたが、余寒のため待機していた。南千住にあった黒羽藩大関家の下屋敷に滞在していた等々。 ** 曽良が出発した朝の月は19日の月、いわゆる寝待の月です。今朝(2023.5.9)残念ながら深川の西空には雲がかかって、有明の月は見ることができませんでしたが、昨夜の写真をあげておきます。(ピンボケですみません)
